London South Africa rack up another win in promotion drive…

Saturday 17th February 2007

London South Africa RFC (LSA) sealed another key victory on Saturday, with a 51-5 away win over Old Emmanuel away from home. This follows two big consecutive scores, of 88-6 over Battersea Ironsides and 43-12 over Warlingham in the Surrey Cup competition. Just a few weeks ago, new head coach Bob Crooks had assured the team that with perseverance, trust and more training, things would soon click into place and they would start fulfilling their potential. The impact that Crooks has had since coming on board in January is evident in the team’s improved communication, confidence and enthusiasm, and LSA’s chances of promotion into the London Leagues at the end of the season have greatly improved. LSA continue to sit in second place in the Surrey One Division, and maintaining a superior points difference with their rivals London Exiles is crucial in order to secure a place in the play-offs for promotion.

In what remains of the season, every game is a big game for LSA. Reflecting on the challenge ahead, skipper Matt Fendick said, “the guys are very excited about the rest of the season and are putting in a big effort”. Malcolm Mirfin claimed the man of the match award, running in no less than four of LSA’s tries. This weekend sees both LSA teams at home at Imber court in big games for both sides. Come and support!
