Massive win for LSA’s super fifteen

By Nicky Prins

Saturday 3rd Febuary 2007

London South Africa RFC (LSA) put on a very strong performance on Saturday against Battersea Ironsides, clocking up an impressive 88 points to the opposition’s six. With the 2006/07 season entering a critical phase as the top teams in the Surrey One League battle it out for the top positions, the massive win will significantly boost LSA’s chances of promotion into the next league. LSA had expected a tough game, and in the first twenty minutes they gave a disciplined performance in response to a spirited Battersea. But LSA soon broke away with a strong lead, maintaining their focus right to the very last minute. Coach Bob Crooks commented proudly afterwards, “I was highly impressed with them. From one to fifteen there was an impressive work rate, discipline and desire to play the game the way we wanted to play it.” Man of the match was Trevor Grundelingh, whose hard work was rewarded with four tries of his own. Next week the LSA Surrey XV play away against Warlingham in the Surrey Cup, while the Shield team are away against Basingstoke.

Surrey XV:

Clint Dearmer, Werner Swanepoel, Aldo Du Plessis, Christian van Rooyen, Justin Rose, Jake Hodinott, Tiaan Visser, Anton Kriel, John Turner, Matt Fendick, David Kelly, Jarrod Vock, Trevor Grundelingh, Malcolm Mirfin, Nick De Kock, Mark Porter,  Peter Howlett, Grant Bezuidenhout.
