Warriors struggle away from home.....

Saturday 1st December

By Matt Aristizabal

London South Africa travelled to Old Wellingtonians for another top of the table clash trying to build on last week’s win, but things didn’t quite work out as the exiles had hoped. Early mistakes by LSA set the tone for the game, and OW took an early lead from a penalty. Three minutes later they went further ahead, exploiting an overlap to cross the whitewash and converting. They repeated the feat on 14 minutes after charging down a kick, and completed their scoring for the half after kicking a penalty for holding on. The Warriors’ only reply came from a Louis Van Zyl penalty as the half finished 20-3.

In the second half conditions were stacked against the away side, playing up the hill with a strong wind across the pitch, but still managed to keep some hope for half an hour, when OW made their domination of possession pay. An early penalty in the half had increased their lead, but it was not until the 29th minute that they began to run in some tries. LSA couldn’t find a reply,  and the half finished at 44-3.

Despite a poor team performance, Tony Couzens at 7 put in an outstanding work rate, and tackled well.
